After the 9/11 the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) recommended, to increase the level of border control and resistance to identity theft, the use of contactless smart chips and biometric identification embedded inside a passport booklet. e-Secure Technologies addresses this requirement with our state of the art solution and platform fully compatible with the ICAO specifications.

ICAO specifies that such travel document are to use biometric identification, facial, fingerprint and iris recognition, more often a digitized facial image and a set of fingerprints data are to be stored inside the contactless smart chip within the passports.

Such passport together with biometric features in relation to Machine Readable Passports are more commonly known as "ePassports" to denote such globally-interoperable passport documents.

Clearly, the contactless technology is the most appropriate technology for ePassports, at e-Secure Technologies, we deliver a platform that enables secure and flexible management of passport holder's details including the biometric data to perform the authentication at immigration checkpoints.

By default, the contactless chips can either be inserted as an inlay inside a datapage or the cover-page of a passport.

The ICAO compliance operating system running on either a 32kbyte, 64kbyte or 72kbyte chip will perform the necessary authentications. In addition, since a digital signature is normally stored inside this chip, it will be able to digitally sign any data to avoid unauthorized alteration of data.
